Charging Information System (CIS)

CHARGING INFORMATION SYSTEM

The Charging Information System (CIS) is an infrastructure charging information system for Applicants. It is provided by Infrastructure Managers (IMs) and Allocation Bodies (ABs) and operated by RailNetEurope. The web-based application provides fast information on charges related to the use of European rail infrastructure and estimates the price for the use of international train paths, stations and shunting. It is an umbrella application for the various national rail infrastructure charging systems. At the moment, the CIS covers the network of more than 20 European Infrastructure Managers and is being enhanced continuously.

Following a technical redevelopment carried out in the first half of 2020, the CIS now provides a faster and more convenient user experience.

This Site offers a basic explanation of the functionality of CIS as well as a step by step guideline to receiving charge estimates.

The Charging Information System (CIS) calculates charges for: train paths, shunting and station use.

BENEFITS OF THE CIS

  • Consulting one single European application instead of various different national systems
  • Providing charge estimates for the use of international train paths within minutes based on timetable year and route selected by the user in a flexible way
  • In addition, providing charge estimates for shunting and station use
  • More than 20 European Infrastructure Managers participating.
