Update as of 26 October 2026:
- The Lunel – Nîmes section was reopened to traffic on 25 October. The temporary speed restriction of 100 km/h is expected to be lifted within two days, after which freight trains will be able to return to the line. Until then, freight trains from/to Béziers /Toulouse/ Perpignan continue to operate on the new line from Lattes to Nîmes (D4, P/C 70/400, 25kV AC, ETCS).
Restoration works in Marseille area are still ongoing. Based on current forecast from SNCF Réseau the following re-opening schedule is expected (see map below):
· Sections L’Estaque – Lavalduc (diesel traction), L’Estaque – Berre (both tracks) and Berre – Miramas (one track) shall be re-opened on 27 October in the morning.
· Section Arles – Miramas shall be re-opened on 29 October.
· The second track between Berre and Miramas is still in critical condition, the date of re-opening is not yet known.
Following the re-opening scheduled for 27 October, freight traffic between Italy and the Marseille area will be possible in both directions via both Ventimiglia and Modane border crossings. However, capacity will remain limited until the speed restrictions are lifted and the second track on the Berre – Miramas section is reopened.
· On the L’Estaque – Lavalduc section until the 10 km/h speed restrictions are lifted, the available capacity is 1 freight train/hour/direction.
· On the Berre – Miramas section, until the second track is put back into operation, the available capacity is 1 freight train/hour/direction.
