All the IMs involved in the traffic disruption, with the support of RFC Med, are currently working with RUs to streamline the best solutions. Different alternatives are currently being studied to re-route the traffic:
- Via Marseille – Ventimiglia – Genova (with limited capacity available);
- Via Basel – Domodossola/Chiasso;
- Via Genève – Domodossola/Chiasso;
Special restrictions can apply to the different solutions.
As various routes via Switzerland are considered to be alternatives temporarily, during the closure of the line, adjustments both on safety issues and organization of the transports, with the research for more Locos and drivers resources is ongoing and in strict collaboration with the railway undertakings in Italy, France and Switzerland.
The goal is to find solutions to elaborate a stable transportation plan for the coming weeks.
