Update as of 23 October 2026:
Restoration works are ongoing. The railway lines in the Marseille area remain in a critical condition. In addition to the Miramas – L’Estaque section, severe damage has also been sustained on the L’Estaque – Lavalduc and Miramas – Arles sections.
Based on the latest forecast from SNCF Réseau:
- Section Lunel – Nîmes is expected to re-open on 25 October with a speed limit of 100 km/h. SNCF Réseau recommends that freight traffic continues to operate on the new line from Lattes to Nîmes (D4, P/C 70/400, 25kV AC, ETCS) as long as the 100 km/h speed restriction remains in force between Lunel and Nîmes.
- On the Miramas – L’Estaque section, one track is expected to re-open for West-East traffic (direction Avignon – Marseille) on 27 October. The second track, used for East-West traffic (direction Marseille – Avignon), has sustained more severe damage, the date of its re-opening is currently uncertain.
- The L’Estaque – Lavalduc (diesel traction) and Miramas – Arles sections are expected to re-open to traffic on 27 October.
